The Birmingham Roller pigeon

The Birmingham Rollers Pigeons are the ideal spinners because unlike other rollers pigeons they look like a spinning ball shot from a cannon. The perfect spinners are hard to come by, a lot of fanciers have great spinners but only a few possess a champion. The perfect roller is not just looks but it’s the roll, the spin, the breeding capabilities; these beautiful birds can make a fancier well known. The expressions in the best rollers are very similar. The sparkle in the eyes and the great design of the head; this is the blueprint for a great Birmingham Roller Pigeon.

This is how we should think

Breeding roller pigeons

First lets talk about nesting boxes. The nesting boxes should be large enough to have two nesting bowls. The birds should be locked in the nesting boxes until all the hens in the loft lay their eggs. If the birds are NOT locked down and the nesting boxes are too small the birds will have to mate on the floor of the loft; this could be a problem because in this case, you can never be sure who the parents really are. The fancier should provide straw or pine needles for the nest. Breeding season usually start at the beginning of the year, around the middle of February. After mating it take anywhere form 8 to 12 days for the hen to lay her eggs, it take about 18 or 19 days to hatch. Youngsters usually take 21 to 30 days after birth, before being pulled from nest.
